SHOCKING! Max Verstappen’s INSANE Speed Shatters Records at Japanese Grand Prix Qualifying! ????????
Any lingering doubts about Max Verstappen’s vulnerability at the Japanese Grand Prix were swiftly dispelled during the qualifying session. The dominant championship leader once again showcased his prowess, securing a commanding pole position as Red Bull Racing reaffirmed their supremacy at Suzuka.
Verstappen’s pole-setting lap, clocked at 1 minute and 28.877 seconds, stood as a testament to his unparalleled speed. It left his closest competitor, Oscar Piastri in a McLaren, trailing by nearly six-tenths of a second, with Verstappen’s teammate, Lando Norris, claiming the third spot on the grid. Piastri, a rookie making his inaugural front-row start in Formula 1, delivered an exceptional performance, particularly on a circuit he had never raced on before. His achievement marked him as only the fifth Australian driver to secure a front-row start in Formula 1 history.
Verstappen’s dominance was undeniable, with this gap being the most substantial seen at Suzuka in almost two decades. The high-speed corners of the Suzuka track played perfectly to the strengths of the Red Bull Racing car. Furthermore, the circuit highlighted the current Formula 1 cars’ capabilities, with their extraordinary downforce and overall speed.
Max Verstappen and the Red Bull Racing team rebounded impressively from a challenging weekend in Singapore by seizing pole position for the Japanese Grand Prix. They outpaced the McLaren duo of Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris during Saturday’s intense qualifying session at Suzuka.
In the early stages of Q3, Verstappen set a blistering time of 1 minute and 29.012 seconds, and he further improved it to 1 minute and 28.877 seconds on his subsequent run. This commanding performance left Piastri and Norris, unable to better their initial laps, more than half a second adrift as the checkered flag marked the end of the session.
Charles Leclerc secured the fourth spot, edging out Sergio Perez, his Red Bull Racing teammate, who settled for fifth place. Carlos Sainz, also driving for Ferrari, completed the top six positions. Notably, the two Ferrari drivers only managed a single flying lap in the pole shootout, having expended their supply of soft tires earlier in the session.
